The Broken Wheel Riding club is located in and around the Fox River Valley in Wisconsin. We have monthly meetings where we plan our calendar of events, coordinate our volunteer efforts and celebrate experiences. We have a yearly fun show for our members, sleigh/wagon ride, clinics, fun days, volunteer opportunities and parades.
The riding club was started in 1965 by 5 families. They were Thurmond and Joyce Doby, Dick and June Everett, Bud and Carol Shephardson, Gordon, Carla Schnur, and Tom Haber.
When the Broken Wheel Riding Club (BWRC) began in 1965 they had a vision of coming together for the purpose of enjoying their love for horses and developing great friendships that result from shared experiences. The founding members were Thurmond and Joyce Doby, Dick and June Everett, Bud and Carol Shephardson, Gordon, Carla Schnur, and Tom Haber.
In the early years of the club's formation the club put on open halter, pleasure, and speed shows. They hosted hay rides, sleigh rides, Halloween parties, dances, banquets and rode in many parades. It was the BWRC that put on the first Horse-a-Rama back in the early 70's. It was held inside the former Valley Fair Mall which was once known as America’s first indoor shopping mall. The BWRC did that for a couple years until they were no longer able to have it at that mall.
Even back then the members participated in trail rides and sponsored different horsey functions. The membership grew very large and over the years membership continues to grow. With a membership between 150 to 200 members, the club focus changed from a showing club to a trail riding club and much more. Join us!
